SUMMARY:Cercle et Carré and the International Spirit of Abstract Art
DESCRIPTION:In Paris in 1929\, painters from around the world founded an influential but short-lived artistic group named Circle and Square\, after the geometric shapes fundamental to abstract art. Cercle et Carré and the International Spirit of Abstract Art showcases more than sixty works by thirty of Cercle et Carré’s participants\, as well as outlines the formation of the group and its artistic legacy. \nThe exhibition was organized by the Georgia Museum of Art\, University of Georgia\, with the addition of works from the collection of the David Owsley Museum of Art. Generous support for the exhibition was provided by the Daura Foundation. \nImage: Pierre Daura (American\, born Spain\, 1896–1976)\, designs for Cercle et Carré logo\, 1929. DESCRIPTION:Learn more about Muncie’s rich and fascinating history by taking a guided tour through a portion of historic Beech Grove Cemetery. Reenactors positioned along the route will bring local historic figures back to life!  \nTours are approximately 1 mile\, generally leave on the half hour and are limited to groups of 20. \nTickets can be purchased at Eventbrite: or available to purchase at the Main Gate the day of the event until 6:30pm. Children under the age of 12 accompanied by an adult are admitted free. \nRefreshments will be available for guests as they wait for the tours to depart. \nGuests can test their fact-or-fiction skills by playing a round of Dueling Historians in the Chapel. \nThis is an outdoor\, family-friendly event which does require walking and taking some steps on uneven ground.  \nAccommodation can be made. A native of St. Petersburg\, Russia\, Anna Vayman made her solo debut at the age of eleven with Omsk Symphony Orchestra in Russia. Since then she has been a soloist with various major orchestras. Highlights of her career include solo performances under the baton of leading conductors such as Valery Gergiev\, Yury Temirkanov\, and Gianandrea Noseda.
