2017 IDEA Conference

Where: Ball State University’s L.A. Pittenger Student Center

On March 5, 2016, 130 citizens attended the first Neighborhood I.D.E.A. Conference and it’s back for 2017! The second annual Neighborhood I.D.E.A. Conference is scheduled for March 4, 2017 on Ball State’s campus. 150 of Muncie’s most active local leaders will gather to listen, learn and meet like-minded individuals to share ideas and best practices. A door prize drawing will be held at the end of the day.

The theme of the conference is Intentional Development and Education for Association Members. Sessions will fall within five distinct tracks:

  1. Beautification and Infrastructure
  2. Community Partnerships
  3. Teamwork and Collaboration
  4. Association Development
  5. Community Plans

Partners:
Ball State University’s Building Better Neighborhoods, the Shafer Leadership Academy, the City of Muncie, the Vectren Foundation, Muncie Action Plan, Ball Brothers Foundations, and the Muncie Historic Preservation and Rehabilitation Commission.

Location:
The conference will be held on the second floor of the L.A. Pittenger Student Center, which is located on Ball State’s campus. Free parking will be available in the parking garage immediately behind the Student Center. Ball State classes will not be in session, and you will not need a pass to park there.

Proposals Are Now Being Accepted for the 2nd Annual Neighborhood IDEA Conference – March 4, 2017

On March 5, 2016, 130 Muncie residents attended the first Neighborhood I.D.E.A. Conference.

The Muncie Action Plan, Shafer Leadership Academy and Building Better Neighborhoods are partnering once again to support the development of neighborhood leaders.

The second annual Neighborhood I.D.E.A. Conference is scheduled for March 4, 2017 on Ball State’s campus. Over 100 of Muncie’s most active local leaders will gather to listen, learn and meet like-minded individuals to share ideas and best practices.

Do you have an idea you would like to share at the conference or a topic you want to see discussed? We are currently taking submissions. The Call for Proposals can be found here.

The Forest Park Senior Center invites you to attend their upcoming September events!

The theme for movies in September is “Strong Women”.  Each movie will shine a spotlight on ordinary women who have their inner strength tested, often frequently, and how they cope.

Tuesday, September 6th @12:30 – MOVIE – “Places in the Heart” starring Sally Field, Danny Glover, John Malkovich

Friday, September 9th @12:30 – MOVIE- “The Mirror Has Two Faces” starring Barbra Streisand, Lauren Bacall and Jeff Bridges

Saturday, September 10th 8a-3pm – Second Saturday Flea Market in the GYM. Bargains galore!

Monday September 12th -12n – Monica Winkler from Meeks returns to celebrate September birthdays and anniversaries and any other special occasions

Friday, September 16th and Saturday 17th – Dialogue Church will host a rummage sale in the gym with lots of bargains and treasures

Tuesday, September 20th – MOVIE- “A Home of Our Own” starring Kathy Bates

Thursday, September 22nd – Round Dance lessons and classes start again – check out the fliers on the gym door

Thursday, September 22nd – MOVIE – “Calendar Girls” – starring Helen Mirren, Julie Walters

Friday, September 23rd 4:30-6:30pm – SENIOR CENTER FISH FRY – What a meal and what a deal!  Help raise funds for the center.

Tuesday, September 27th – MOVIE-“Corrina Corrina” starring Whoopi Goldberg and Ray Liotta

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1st 12n-3p – EDIE”S STYLE SHOW AND LUNCHEON
